Default Cp3 /cp4 steel thickness help

Hi there,
Please can somebody help me ? Cp3 &cp4 do not have any metal dimensions in the manual, however, I was under the impression that they had to be at least 5mm. This is what I was planning to do the whole cp3 assembly in until I saw Phils plates on eBay. His plates are 3mm thick according to his product description. Now I am confused. I know there is no harm in beefing thing up a little, but, I just wanted to know as I have 3mm plate lying around. Just a little concerned that 3mm might be a little too flimsy to take the rear shock load, or to remain in tact during a roll. I am a little confused, is it ok for me to use 3mm or no ?
