Voucht's build update
Hi everybody,
A I don't have a build thread, and my blog is not exactly up to date, I just publish a little update about my build as I have a little time. After the first car's inspection in February, I had to disassemble everything to get the chassis sandblasted and powder coated. That is how the car was looking like for the inspection in February. 2013-11-26_13-44-46 par Voucht71, sur Flickr Then it has been reassembling time, with a new engine, as the first one had a head gasket failure (and perhaps worse). So everything is going well... almost. I actually spent more than a month sorting out the electricity. It was such a mess, I just hated this part of the build. It is finished now, I could have shorten the loom more than I did, but I'm fed up with the cutting, soldering, etc. So, I left a big ball of wired tied together, which I will stuck behind the dashboard. I also make the definitive bulkhead panel, and for what need to be fitted on. A friend of mine who works in a window factory close t my place proposed me to use their machines to cut and bend the aluminium plates for the inside panels, so it was cool to be able to make clean cuts and bends. I decided to make everything removable, as I know myself, I will need to remove the panel quite often because there's always been something wrong (if everything is going as it has gone so far!). So rivnuts all around so far, except for the back panel which will be riveted, but I wait the last moment to do it as I don't want it to be in the way of any further work. So inside panels are sorted now and I even fitted the seats. 2 Cobra seats that I got second hand and exchanged against a brake line set, pretty good deal. This is how the car is looking like now: 2014-05-15_17-56-47 par Voucht71, sur Flickr 2014-05-19_07-43-10 par Voucht71, sur Flickr 2014-05-19_07-43-37 par Voucht71, sur Flickr I'm now diving in the Canaries Islands I write this post from a warm and sunny terrace. It is good to be away from the Swedish weather, and also from the build for a little while. When I come back, I will put the bodywork on, and I will be close to the end. But everything always takes more time than I expect, and even though I hope the car will be on the road this summer (which is a very relative notion in Sweden), nothings sure. Good luck to the builders, and good fun to the ones who are already enjoying their Roadster on the roads! Bye.
