Build table
I'm starting to think about constructing my build table. I have done a search of the forum but not really got anywhere.
At the minute I'm thinking a metal frame made from angle iron something like 40mm X 40mm X 4mm and mdf top. I'm on the right track? Or would an all wood build table do the job? As my Dad is a carpenter he could help me knock one up with his eyes shut! |

My build table was from two sheets of plywood, one for the top, the other cut into,
3 full length rips about 200mm wide, these where used on edge down either side of the top, Whats left of the 2nd sheet we cut two end profiles that the rails tennoned into, two on the top edges and one down the middle lower down, then we added a few cls rails across the way and a few diagonols, Hope this makes sence, hers a pic with the man himself I can do you a sketch if you want me to? |

Thanks Rosco,
That makes perfect sense along with the picture I can see exactly how you've gone about it. I've been looking at your build thread and your car looks so good and neat, so if that build table done you it will be more than good enough for me to use your method. Did you find it sagged at all? What grade of ply did you use? Cheers Dean |

i got hold of two old metal framed school tables and put 8x4 sheet across it strengthened with 4x2 along each edge, once the chassis was made i removed the wood and kept the two frames at tressles and kept the car at that height for as long as possible, then lifted down with engine crane when it went on its wheels

Also before you start laying the chassis out, check the plywood is square corner to corner! Don't just assume it's square |
