Longest break in construction?

Well - i'm finally back on it!!!

After moaning in summer of 2013 that I'd got a bit bogged down - I had no idea it had only just started! Work - selling two houses/buying a new one - moving out for 6 months while the place was gutted - then gradually working through all the many DIY jobs that went into getting it back into a proper home - plus having our (first!) son born in June '13 all meant I have done VERY little since then.

Part of the house build project was getting a garage - so finally, about 3 weeks ago - my chassis came 'home' for the first time ever! Up until then it had been in an outbuilding at my in-laws.

I'm now finding the joy of being able to pop outside, even if just for half an hour, in the evening to do a little bit of work on the car.

I have two new deadlines looming:
1) my father-in-law wants his outbuilding clear by Jan, so I need to get the bodywork (bought in Jan 2013!!!!) fitted so it's somewhere safe.
2) son #2 is due on 6th Feb...

Hopefully i'll be able to find bits of time more easily with 2 children - at least #1 son is now able to hand me the right socket on request! Will post some pics up this weekend :-D

Nice to see you back on your build.

That's the beauty of a self build, you can fit it in & around your personal life events.

Started my Roadster build, summer 2007 & still not complete.

Look forward to progress pics.

My 12yr old struggles with the difference between a small ratchet and a large spanner?

2 years since I did anything productive to mine.

And i've got some panels mostly fitted (I intend to wrap the top edge of the tunnel sides over for a neater finish - but spot the mistake on the drivers side...!) Btw - marking out based on the outlines in the book (or even from measuring the chassis) really is just a starting point I found!!!

I was looking at your build thread for tips last night - wondered what had happened - still if I had a decent Sierra I may have less time for the Roadster!

Garage is over run. my Jagaur Sized it's engine in Oct 2015 so I spent quite a few months planning and replacing the engine.

Then Bought a spares S-Type.

I had to get rid of one of my two sierras ( The XR4x4 ) to make space to lay up the dead s-type. So I am down to just the two projects my Sapphire and the Roadster.

The list of jobs on the road cars is dropping, so time is becoming more viable again.

The long breaks are showing up - I struggled with drilling the alu floor (drill bit clogging with alu) and found a post from 2 years ago on my blog mentioning using WD40 as cutting fluid making cutting the alu much easier...!

So keeping a running commentary for the sake of helping myself didn't work that well!

Amazing how long some jobs take - drilling out about 60/70 holes at 2mm then again at 3.2mm took me the best part of two and a half hours! No wonder these cars take a while to build!!!
