Default Interior projctions - the chassis

So, I was just down the garage for a crafty smoke, and got to thinking.....

On the IVA, most things that are contactable have to have a 2.5mm radius. What about the exposed chassis rails in the cockpit area??

The rails I mean are the ones that hold the side panels - no idea what tubes they are (book in garage) but includes diagonals as well as top and bottom rails.

I don't intend to trim mine, would this pose a problem at IVA??

And yes, I have noticed the deliberate mistake in the title

that is a good point you raise, i don,t intend to trim mine either but i,ve not heard about a car failing the test for having exposed chassis rails in the cockpit, maybe its cos once painted/powder coated they indeed meet the radius required

i wouldn,t worry about it as it doesn,t seem to be an issue at the test.

cheers
andy

No probs with mine on the SVA.
He did notice a couple of exposed nuts
under the dash, that needed covering.

Maybe you need longer trousers

Cheers for the reply guys, I didn't think it would be an issue, after all, the prototype went through SVA, just wasn't sure about IVA.

Most ERW square tube does in fact have a 3mm radius on it.

Kind regards

John

All my section has the radius on the edges. The projections are, for sva, for pedestrian contact with the car for forward facing projections, for IVA it includes rear facing projections. In the cockpit just make sure there are no raggy edges on any of the plates. The main thing in the cockpit is underside of the dashboard for your knees and the steering wheel being padded.

Everything else should be fine.

Is it realla as much as 3mm??

I know it is a bit rounded over, but didn't think it was that much.
