Dual Personality rear Uprights ( Handy Andy?? )
Is there any reason that rear uprights can not be made to accept either drum or disk? Looking at the book it would just be a case of the Plate being a slightly different shape and drilled and tapped for 8 mounts.
Or is there a clearance issue? It would give builders the option to change their setup at a later date without extra cost. TT |

The first thing that springs to my mind is ..........On the drum set up, the drum backplate is rebated to the same profile as the RU plate on the upright
Might be possible with a re-design of the uprights but the most obvious choice if unsure of what you want, is to make the uprights to suit drums & if the need arises, buy some adapters from 3GE for disc conversion

i would totally agree with Ronnie on this, go with the std book spec uprights & if fitting discs then use an adapter plate to alter the angle of dangle so to speak,
Tho i would like to say that the Roadster behaves perfectly well brake balanced with drums on the rear, Spud69,s car has drum rear brakes & the braking is superb, we went on a track day & i couldn,t believe how late Spud was braking , totally safe & controlled, & i,m an ex bike racer who is used to late braking on the track, for my own build i,m sticking with drums, as thats what i have from my donor. cheers andy

Some people have had to fit brake bias valves to stop the rear discs locking up before the fronts, i have drum rear and find them perfect.

TBH, I am quite happy with the idea of standard drums on the rear. I can't see them being over stretched... And if they were then the 10" XR4i drums should stop it.
I just have all the disk bits lying arround . The Drums are a lot more reliable though! TT |
