Talking Iv had a propper test drive

hi all, just thought id let you all now iv been for a test drive today.

OH MY GOD i think we can safly say its rarther quick and VERY TAIL HAPPY

also got it weighed 540kg inc a full tank of fuel so 520kg dry weight tolerance is +/- 20kg on the weigh bridge

good points

fast as anything
very happy to slide
quite predictable
very stable
brakes worked
steering worked
suspension worked
etc etc
set up speado healer (calibrated speado)
dosnt pull left or right under breaking
fronts lock up before rears

bad points
got a puncture
steering wheel needs adjusting slightly to get dead centre on the collum

when i drive at full throttle i get a cough and splutter at about 8k rpm upwards almost like a rev limiter kicking in but it revs fine withough load think it might be the position of the air sensor as it nbo longer in a air box and i have a scoop in the bonnet pulling the air into the inlets.

got really dirty
and after all of that i forgot to properly check self centering, but i dont recall it being a problem so i think it does ok

hopefully IVA will be next week or the week after just waiting for nottingham to call me, vosa have sent all my aplication folder back and seemed happy with it.
gear stick too tight

jobs still to do:
loosen bearings on gear stick
fit difernt rear reflecters (ones on it i dont think will be ok for IVA
set up gear indicator (should have done that today)
sot out air sensor
adjust stearring wheel
pad steering wheel face
general IVA prep, edge trim, etc ball joint covers etc

chears tilly

That makes me jealous as f**k.

I can’t wait until I get to that stage I have a huge army camp to practise on.

I bet you were like a kid in a sweet shop

Good luck on the IVA, remember a nice break-down of events would be good

Cheers Ginge

if you have the off centre mushrooms and they are put in right (hole to the front of the car) then it will self centre fine.

mine self centres as good as any tintop i have ever driven. think dave setup the front end with 1.5-2deg toe in and a couple of degrees negative camber. he will tell you more, as all i could see was loads of string and lots of scribbling on a bit of paper. seems to have worked as the car sticks like shit to a blanket.

Don't ask me, I just pretended I knew what I was doing.
Impressed Ash though.....

Measurement sounds about right.
Think it was 20mm toe in at about 4mtr.
Using the string and tape method.

And yes Ash is correct, his does self centre brill.
Must have done something right....

1.5 to 2 dergrees toe in I think you mean 1.5 to 2 minutes or may be 1.5 to 2 mm I hope. would have thought 1 degree neg camber would get the job done.
More caster the better for self centreing.
