Front lower wishbone jig

Hi!
Is the height(18,5 , 10) of the platesupport correct? The plate will be a couple mm lower then the middle of the tubes.

Should the piece of plate that goes inside the tube be bent too?

Want to make sure before welding

Hi Filip, a warm welcome to the forum.

yes , you are correct with 18mm & 10mm for the support on the jig.

But no, you do not need to bend the plate that goes inside the tube,

just make the bend as per the book dimension on page 58 fig 5.5

Just to add, the ends that go into tubes if you flatten the tubes (not completely) over the ends and fully weld the end of the tubes to the ends. You can grind this to make a nice smooth transition. In my experience the bend in the plate is a weak point and the extra weld will keep the bend at 20deg, my slowly moved to about 20deg after about 3k miles.

Ah great!
Should the bend be 20 degrees? From memory my book says 10.
I had some trouble fitting the tubes into the plates as the plate was so far from the tubes middle.

the bend should be 10 degrees,
I think what spud meant was his original wishbones had bent to 20 degrees due to the weak point....the bend in the plate........over a period of 12 months ,
Spud has replaced his front lower wishbones, with the end of the tubes flattened & welded as he describes above which creates a stronger point at the bend line.

bend the plate to 10degrees, flatten the tubes where the plate enters them & weld into place.
