Have you made your own steel petrol tank?.......
...... if so what thickness of sheet did you use? The closest stockest to me has 0.8mm & 1.5mm at good prices but I would have thought something about 1-1.2mm would of been better. Is 0.8 up to job? Is 1.5mm to much?
Any thoughts welcome. Yes I probably should go the alloy route but can't weld it myself and it'll cost me at least 3 times as much by the time someone does it for me. Budget's very thin these days!!! J |

for referance my tank is 1.6mm ally so i would have thought anything around 1mm steel would be fine, dont forget to put in a couple of baffles but if you are using a laver arm sender make sure you leve enough room for it to move and if you are using an in tank pump its worth mounting a thicker plate onto the bottom of the take so when you bolt,/riv nut etc it does not deform the bottom of the tank like mine did....oops
hope this helps tilly |
