Mounting Megajolt
Hi all,
hope you've all recovered from your weekend!! Just a quick one reference box of trickery and vibration - how are people mounting their megajolt/megasquirt? Hard mounted or insulated from vibration (to a degree)? |

I've heard stories of a chip inside the Megajolt system that jiggles loose under vibration, thus stopping the engine. So it may be worth putting in some insulation of some sort to try and stop this from happening, better to be safe than sorry and all that.

Hi Daz
Most I have seen, have been hard mounted but it wouldn't hurt to use some AV mounts, i'd keep them on the firm side though. Seem to remember reading in the manual that it was best to try and mount it well away from the heat of the engine bay The vibration problem relates to the Megasquirt system, the one that has a daughter board fitted ( This has been known to work itself loose ) All of the Megajolts components are hard soldered & shouldn't vibrate loose

Cheers Fella's,
I'm going to be mounting it under the dash, so away from any heat concerns (hopefully). I'll knock up some sort of vibration plate and attach it to that. Thanks again. |

I also mounted the EDIS under the dash as this is known to be suceptable to the extra heat under a 7's bonnet.
Be extra dilligent with tha cabling and especially the shielded cables which should be earthed at only 1 end. The VR sensor bracket needs to be stiff. Use good quality shielded cable for the VR sensor, I got somegood stuff from Trigger-wheels.com and make sure the mini timer plug is well fitted, has a loop to take engine movement. I have had multiple failiers where the small wires join the plug due to the cable bending at the plug. |

My megajolt and Edis have now been hard mounted on the bulkhead for over a year now and some hard driving and have been fine so far - touch wood....
