Wishbone shock bracket.
Todays job was getting my suspension brackets welded to the chassis. When i got to the rear of the car this evening i realised a stupid mistake i'd made on one of my lower wisbones...
I've welded one of the wishbone brackets onto the plate instead of a shock bracket! Will the iva man be ok with a spacer each side of the shock in the bracket? Because grinding it off the plate won't be easy.

please dont take this as gospel
but i read on lcb that somebody had a hard time at iva using washers as spacers.... i really would check this out.. but no way could the iva man be upset by a machined spacer/ top-hat shaped thingy as these are the norm when fitting rod ends etc and are obviously infinitely variable for adjustment of angles ie .one thick one thin ..etc etc cheers les g |

You need to pack out the damper on the rear uprights too David, i believe this would be okay on the front to for the IVA man. It's more just the cosmetic look on the front of the car.
If i can see correctly on the pic i would consider flattening the ends of the tubes where they meet the wishbone plate at the end and welding these fully to the plate either side. After a fair few miles the plate can bend up from 10deg upto 20 - 30deg and put a lot of stress on the Maxi joint, if you fully weld this area, and grind it flush, it will give a lot more support to the end of the plate and stop it bending.
