Default Pipercross Backplate Thickness

Following on from my thread on airboxes. I had a quick look on ebay to see what was available - no luck. So tried a long trawl through air filters and lo and behold I spotted a brand new pipercross filter hidden away in the listing which I picked up for half the new price - happy days

Cut out a backplate for it yesterday from some 2mm Alu I had left over from the floor. However it seems a bit think and when I try and fit it tight it is trying to bend the plastic lugs. I'm thinking that perhaps I should make another one from 1.2mm Alu I have from the bodywork.

My question is does anyone out there have an original backplate and if so any chance you could measure the material thickness for me?
