Default rear upright question

I have rear's uprights with disks.In the book we have plates RU8 and RU7 both 10mm.Do I need RU8 or I just can add 10mm to RU5?IAnd one more-that mean PCD?(RU7)

U need RU8 for the bearing carrier to bolt to for your driveshafts and brake caliper. Also note that they are offset when you come to tacking them together.
PCD is Pitch Circle Diameter- this is the diameter that the holes are spaced around on(106.5mm)

Don't do them like shown in the book, the plates need to be welded on differently otherwise the calipers don't fit without hitting the uprights. Instead of the calipers being dead upright they need to be at about a 45 degree angle. See my build diary for more detail : http://www.deepfolly.co.uk/5.html photo about 1/2 way down the page.

This was mentioned a couple of weeks ago about leaving out RU7 and just increasing RU5 to maintain the track.

Personally i think your upright will be stronger for having RU7 their, also it gives you more surface area to weld to to strengthen RU8.One thing i would also bear in mind is that the parts were all designed and tested on CAD and you may well be creating something not as strong as the original, unless you have the means to test it.
