A cheaky pikey walked up my drive yesterday, asked who was getting rid of the remains of my sierra, told him local scrappy was and he said oh, i told him if he gave me something for it he could have it though.
Out came a roll of 20's an inch thick and agreed a tenner, cheap as but the local scrappy pride themselves on removing cars for free so seeing as I dont have a trailer to take it there myself it was a tenner I wasnt going to get otherwise.
They came back a couple of hours later with a truck, I asked what he was going to do with it and he sheepishly said 'yea just weigh it in' so I said alright bung this lot in then, make it heavier (bonnet exhaus, trim, other crap I didnt want) He was happy as larry and I got a clear drive again.
IOW is like the deep south, cant sneeze without everyone knowing etc so know nothing will happen, wasnt really a true traveler type though as non over here, they get run off into the solent by farmers lol

Cool Result

I bet it feels good to have your drive back again

Got £70 for the last shell I weighed in .... That'll be why he had a big fat roll of 20's

That said, I recently let someone on the knock remove some scrap batteries & light iron for a small fee.
A lot less hastle than loading it all on to the trailer & trowing it off again at the scrapyard

Yea, it was £120 a couple of weeks ago apparently and currently local scrappy are paying £80 a ton so yea he would be happy. He said he takes batteries if I ever get any, and alloys as he gets something for those too.

Like you say, saves the hasstle. The local scrappy did come today to take away a scrap golf I had as well, easy but theres nothing in you back pocket for it which is a bit annoying considering you know what they are making on it.

Was £150 a ton on monday for mixed iron in Petersfield.

Also batteries are about £250 a ton.... and they fit in the boot.

small point,

"you need to be a registered waste carrier to carry more than 5 batterys in a vehicle that are not part of said vehicles operational systems"

one of my engineers got a £230 fine just 3 weeks ago.

Your lucky getting paid for it! Over here they always give you less. The attitude is if you dont like it take it to the mainland yourself. I will one day when I get a trailer again (on the look out by the way if anyone has an Ifor or brian james for sale?)
