How do you remove a redundant power steering pump?
Guys,
I can't believe I forgot about this. My engine still has the donor's PAS pump on it. I initially intended to run PAS so left it on. Now i'm not so it has to go, I assume it will just sieze up without a flow of fluid through it when running, eventually. I can't re-run the serpantine belt properly without the pump, so the question is: How to you fabricate a dummy pump? Just a bracket that holds the pulley? Obviously it needs a bearing of some sort. any ideas, pictures would be really good. Thanks! Sam.

Sam
pull pulley off the pump get the centre of the pulley bored out to take a boss get a pair of cheap sealed bearings get them pressed in the boss make up a plate to sit where the pump was get a spindle turned to fit the inner dimension of your bearings threaded on the end get the spindle welded to the plate or if the plate is thick enough drill and tap plate and have thread on both ends of the spindle and screw spindle into plate and secure with locnut/threadlock now you can shim pulley in and out to allign and secure with a spacer and nut on other end of pulley cheers les g |

Hi Aero, I made up an adaptor plate and used the idler pulley. I made up an adaptor bush on the lathe.
looks like this. Hope the attachment is right. Shaun |

Yep just find a pully or better still a tensioner and make up a bracket.
Or build a fluid return system.
