Ah not really worth it then as kind of defeats the point of doing it on a budget. On a slightly different note, any idea if the chassis design is hardy enough to handle something like chevy v8 engine? Would be awesome to put one of those in

Hi, On the subject of doners: here in the U.S. we have few Merkur XR4Ti's still around and I have 2 Datsun 280Zs parked out back in various states of decay. The independent rear suspension is looking mighty inviting. The differentials are said to handle V-8 torque. The ratios might be a tad high, but that would just give me a nice overdrive for the pike. (For engine I'm thinking a hot "banger" 4 cylinder, 1.8 or 2.0L, 16 valve Honda or thereabouts from the boneyard). Anybody used a Z rear end?
