Wrong wheel oops
Hi all,
Won a set of wheels from eBay. Picked them up, only to find out they were from a Fiat, which has a 98mm BCD, whereas my hubs are 108mm. Firstly, I know I'm an idiot, I should have checked before bidding So I figure my options are: 1) Consider it an expensive lesson and relist on eBay 2) Convert the hubs to 98mm (drill new holes and refit bolts) 3) Get some wheel adapters I would appreciate some advice from people who know a lot more about this than I do. Or even a little bit more than me (which is pretty much everyone - I'm making this up as I go along). Cheers, KEv. |

Hi Kev firstly congratulations on getting the wheels u wanted. I have seen what can happen when wheels are altered to match hubs and it can go seriously pear shaped. I don't know if it is worth trying to change the hubs it depends what donor u R using. In my humble opinion i would put the wheels back on the Bay and buy some that will fit.

Definately easier to relist them on ebay. The other option is as you say to get the hubs 'modified' to suit,if you go this route get it done by an engineering company as you want it done accurately.Personally i would wait a week or two and relist them.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I figured putting them back on eBay was the way to go, just wanted to check there wasn't some easy way to work around my mistake.
I will start looking for some new ones, now I know what to look for! Cheers, KEv. |

1.5mm seems to be the largest, i think you would need 2.5?

Nice idea, but there's 10 mm of difference in the diagonal, so I don't think it'd work for me.
Besides, I'm about to go pick up another set of wheels I won on eBay last night These ones are gonna need some TLC and a new set of tyres, but at this stage I just want something I can roll the chassis out of/into the garage on. Besides I'm bound to scratch the wheels with something during the build before it's finished.. |

Think i would relist them and buy the correct wheels - you also need to make sure they are the correct offset to, 38mm.

When I suggested offset lug nuts, I was trying to be funny. I didn't know these actually existed. |
