Steering Column To Steering Rack Coupling

Hi guys, having a bit of hassle with the steering and was hoping someone could help with a couple of questions. 1) I took the coupling (bit with the teeth, circled in the attached picture) from an escort at the local breakers and it doesn't fit tight enough? What have other people used as the sierra one was even bigger still! 2) how have people positioned this part so that it doesn't foul on the chassis rails when its attached to the part of the steering column that bends and has to be cut in half to form the extension?

That part will fit at the top of the column to give you the part that slides in the v shapde part of the column and use a Group 4 u/j from Rally design,so in effect you have the u/j, an extension of tube and the v shaped part at the top to slide on the inner column.

Thanks for the quick reply flyerncle. So do I attach one of these to the rack (http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product...s_id=13580) ? and then my triangle shaped part which has the bend in it attaches the part I just linked which has been cut in two?

Hi guys just a quick question how many couplings do you need to have cause I have seen ones with two one on the bottom and one at the top and seen ones with it only on the bottom

Guess that's what I'm trying to work out as the book doesn't say anything about getting different couplings for attaching the column to the rack. Plus getting the right angles so it won't foul on chassis upright rails or the engine :S

That does help a bit, can you confirm that this sort of setup in the attached picture would be right?

U/j goes on the rack and the vee shaped part fits the column that goes to the sterring wheel,you will need a splined shaft to cut and join with thick wall tube,make the lower end slightly longer than the top to clear the chassis.
