Default V8 /V6 lower engine

I am looking at engine options and installation, the lower the better seems to be the order of the day. Stumbling block seems to be flywheel/bellhousing diameters, even with a dry sump they are the problem. Have a look on quartermaster.coms website. For anyone with a v engined configuration they have a 71/2" flywheel that can take a mutiplate clutch and offer a bellhousing that takes a rear mounted reverse rotation starter, looks like the dobermans danglers. Must be worth a drop of at least 3". Ideas along these lines could be achieved for the taller four pots. And how the hell do you drop a link onto these pages.

What gearbox are you looking at? I don't think I'd want to drop my gearbox 3 inches down. Also £400 for a flywheel seems a bit steep.

From what i have seen on these pages there are quite a few decent engineers.Its not impossible to make a home grown version of this it would be possible to take a front wheel drive type flywheel that uses the reverse entry starter and modify it to fit, then tig a pocket into your own bellhousing. Machine the starter mating surface then cut the bottom off you bellhousing to suit, that must be worth a couple of inches at least.

As someone who has most of the tools to do that all I can say is thats a lot of work for some thing that can be got around by adding 50-75mm to the chassis uprights. I'm not saying don't bother doing it but some times the simple way to do things is also the cheapest and thats the general idea of making most of these cars your self.

Default challenge talon

This is going to be challenge talon!! You have got the job. Have already got the engine ,gearbox ,suspension, braking system,wheels, tyres, clocks and most of the rest would be on the shelf. all i want to do is mount the engine as low as poss and these bellhousing kits second hand from the states are about £350 and second hand dry sump kits about the same. its going to be mounted as low as you think you can get it and then if need be add some height. But that would be the last thing.Just love the low sleek lines and dont want to spoil them. This is still a budget build but low cg and decent brakes are my No1 target, see you soon.

This is value for money and they are about for four pots, v6 and v8. You cant buy a decent clutch for this sort of money and will take the whole thing down 3".
