I remember going up the local garage for my Dad when I was a lad ( 10'ish)

1 shilling 10d a gallon

47p a gallon when I passed my test, seemed like a fortune at the time

Who remembers collecting football figure heads from the shell garage with every 5 gallons

5 gallons ....... I don,t think the top half of my fuel tank has been wet in a long time

I notice that gas/electricity and food prices were not included. That was just like a politician's speech when the use only the statistics that look good.

How long would it take now to collect a full set if you used to get one with a fivers worth in comparison to the price of fuel these days, think I would be applying for my renewal of license at seventy before I got a full set

If we,re talking a squad of 11 players .....about half a tanks worth

I have an 80 ltr tank in my daily driver, fuel around here is approx £1.32 per ltr....= £105 to fill up....Gulp ....now I know why the top of my tank never gets wet

Tell me about it Andy

Put £90's worth of diesel in the Jeep the other day for my trip to Dorchester
Diddly squat left in the tank after the 330 mile round trip

Just a pity that over £70 of that went straight into the treasuary coffers
