Electrickery
Im reposting this here cos I got carried away and raised it in the wrong section where it will probably sink without trace.
Basiclly I've got my loom plugged in,superfluous functions snipped out and the associated fuses removed . I 've got it turning over on the key with the plugs out but no spark. Indicators work but not lights and I get 3+ves at the 3 main headlamp bulb terminals Any advice here would be appreciated.I realise that there must be an earth problem but they all seem to be well secured. Is there any easy way of testing the coil? |

Without taking a look and getting in there with a multi meter and a wiring diagram, any advice would probably be like pissing in the wind unfortunately. Car wiring and looms can be quite complicated and there could be a number of reasons why you are having problems. probably not the answer your after sorry, Dan.

I assume your using the loom from the Sierra? When I did mine, I found loads of feeds were providing a live for other feeds. So if I disconnected something useless, I lost the live to the fuel pump, for instance. I found I had to check the loom with a multimeter checking through all the feeds for the relays, ensuring they were getting the correct power.
Checking the relays and fuses would be a good place to start. Then if thats ok, checking the correct wires are going to the components. Now bear in mind the Sierra loom requires multiple earths as not all Earth wires on the loom go back to the same point. |

1stly ,,, Which engine.
2ndly are you just concerning yourself with getting the engine to fire at the moment. 3rdly, is this a POST 90 loom, if so have you got the alarm module in place? or disabled the inhibitor? TT

Sierra 1.8cvh
Alarm/ inhibitor now then yes it was alarmed how would I de- inhibit it? Yes I would like to fire it up at any rate and solve other probs later. Its spinning over on the key but no spark .Im beginning to suspect the coil---I may have welded earth tags to the chassis with the coil wired up and batt. connected. |

Ok,
So. You should have 2 bultiplugs on the engine loom, On the big one apply +12V to the black wire, Apply +12V to the +ve side of the coil and assuming you have the main power feed to the ECU ( it's a big terminal on the engine harness) and the grounds. Crancking should see it fire and run. TT
