rear upright jig issue!
Hi guys,
It may well be me but just had some new parts made ( RU2 ) as previous ones were not correct. Have made jig to book spec and also template for positioning bush for hole alignment. when in jig RU2 sits about 3mm taller than 65mm height of 5inch tube and measurement 66mm hole centre to base plate of jig is also out, fig 5.24 page 70. Was there a correction to template when height of 5inch tube altered from 70 to 65mm ? Has anybody else checked dimensions when making there uprights. Have tried to include pic but cannot get it downlodedfrom computer as it tells me file is too big. Its on photobucket if you dont mined looking. cheers tony.http://s680.photobucket.com/albums/vv162/tm54 |

Cant see any ammendments to this part?
http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=2430 Personally didnt like the book jig design. Can simply drill some box section with the hole at the correct height and then postion it at the dimension and then bolt the parts together through the box section and just lift it up to sit correctly. Sorry thats all i can do from memory book at home 1500km away. |

Here's the picture for you Tony
Not sure what the problem could be, like Ozzy, I made my own jig up for the rear uprights. I am not aware of any amendments in that area. Sure that someone will soon spot the problem

Thanks ozzy and to you ronnie, the height gauge is set to where the hole centre should be which is roughly how much the plate sits above the 5inch tube. If I lower it then the template as per the book will be out. So what to do? Like ozzy says remake jig but to dimensions as page 70 then check all other dimensions when tacked up? Back to the drawing board then, tell me ronnie how did you get photo downloaded to forum.

Sorry Tony
Sorry Tony, I meant to answer your question a lot earlier
Copied from an earlier post There are umpteen ways to post pictures but here is how it all works for a computer numpty like me I use the photo hosting site " Photobucket " this is free to join & use. Usually load my pictures from my camera to the pictures folder on the PC, I then upload them to my Photobucket account. When my pictures on Photobucket & hover the cursor on an image I wish to use, Photobucket will list a drop down menu containing image addresses & the likes. At the bottom of the list, you should see the one that says Image code ( That's the one I use ) Right click the Image code address, then copy, start typing your forum post & when you are ready to insert your image, right click & choose paste, that should insert the image code for you. If you want to check that all is well just click on preview post. The photo will stay on the forum for as long as it is still in your Photobucket album. Hope that is of some help to you Hope you have sorted your upright issue out
