Default Engine choice

Hello all, I'm new to the forum and looking for some info regarding engine choice.

I originally wanted to use a 200sx engine as I know them very well but after watching a vid of a cossy powered Westfield I was put off by the idea of a turbo powered car duet the amount the driver was struggling to keep it under control.

So no I'm trying to decide what to go for instead.

I don't really want to go down the ford route either.

Maybe a bike engine of some sort
An mx5 engine
An SR20DE from a non turbo 200sx

Any other options?

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks

cant go wrong with a 1.8 mx5, 130hp so plenty of power but not too much, nice and reliable and you get all your donor parts with it too

What box are you going to run with it? I loved my old 106 rally with a VTS engine.

I am going with the CA18DET and s13 g/box as you well know they can put some HP. I am a FB and with a 12 gallon tank to help with rearward grip I think the S13 combo will be MEGA ....I am going the extra mile with a charge cooler, stage 2 chip, T28 and water/alky injection......boost will not be silly numbers probably not even double figures....should be interesting....Im sure some one else is going to use the CA18DET as well.....and there is a half built rb25det somewhere.....thing is....you can change the engine anytime anyway even if it is a bit of hassle (ask Ash g)

It all depends on what you intend to use the car for. If its short circuit track day car its bec , daily driver in the summer any of the modern engines seem to go in with bell housing/adaptor plates, most of which are being installed on this forum somewhere. If its lunacy you want there is loads of choice in the turbo 4 pots, 6 pot bmw and aerosam has a v8 bmw. Its down to what floats your boat and fits your budget. Every one on here would have a different take on whats ideal , thats what makes all this forum stuff interesting.
