Toyota V6(s)
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone ha managed to squeeze one of the toyota v6's into a standard book chassis? Im looking into the all alloy 1mz 3.0L or the older 3VZ with iron block, but would be keen to hear if anyone has any experience with this set up Thanks James |

I had considered fitting one of these into my MR2.
Its a regular engine upgrade/conversion for the MR2 so probably better have a look of there forums for info. There ment to be about 200bhp and bags of torque out the box so would be a nice drive. |

not to mention, they sound awesome what would the max height be that i can have without a bonnet buldge? about the 600mm mark? looking at the older 1mz's from the ES300's they have pressed steel sumps, so can shorten one of them for a bit better height, and itb's to get rid of that huge inlet manifold |

I've put a 3VZ into an MR2 and they're a great engine.
A couple of issues is that they're not the cheapest engines as there aren't too many about and all the MR2 boys want them. Secondly you'll need to source or adapt a suitable RWD gearbox, possibly Lexus? The 1MZ is weaker in some areas but is a good bit lighter so probably better in a 7 type car. |

any chance you could measure across the outer width of the cylinder heads on your engine? I think the 1mz has the cam pulleys on the outer of the heads and that makes the 1mz quite wide cheers mate |

Why would you want to fit that big 6 cylinder in a seven type car if there are better engines available for the task?
The Toyota 3SGTE come to mind and Im fitting a series 2 unit into my ride and if one compare the outputs specs of both engines, the 3SGTE ticks all the blocks. V6 (new) = 156kw at 5800rpm and 298nm at 4400rpm 3SGTE (series 2) = 165kw at 6000rpm and 304nm at 3200rpm - std factory 9psi boost. The 3SGTE makes more torque at much lower rpm and nothing beats that linear delivery of power of this engine. To top that it is lighter than the V6 and smaller hence easier to install. What it definitely lacks, is the V6 soundtrack but that rush of power only a turbo can deliver is worth much more to me personally. I hear "tractability" of the V6 in the background but let face it - the 3SGTE is still a 2 liter engine with 8.8 :1 compression ratio without boost and should make decent power with only about 600kg to move around and be decently fast until that CT26 takes over for wicked performance. |

My daily drive is a 1991 Revision 1 MR2 with the 3SGET engine running stock 10psi. If i hadn't started my build a few years ago with the V6 then i would consider this engine option but i've started so i'll finish, if its not got enough then a few turbo's will really make it quick.
