Caliper question

Hi calling all ford fans, earlier this year i bought some front hubs off ebay and when they arrived the guy had been kind enough to throw in some discs and caliper carriers. This week i have managed to buy some callipers complete with carriers. Right now comes my question, the original buy had vented discs and when i compare the carriers from the first buy to the second buy the carriers are different widths. Can i put the calipers on the first carriers and fit the vented discs or will i need to buy new discs, solid not vented and are there different widths of calipers

Difference is in the width of vented and solid disc's,calipers possibly the same and carriers will match vented or solid discs.

It actually depends of what we are talking about. If you take the example of callipers like Wilwood or Outlaw, yes, they have different widths according to a range of disc widths you can use the with.
Actually, these kind of callipers have all the same half-bodies, and spacers of different thickness’s define the disc width range you can use (see the sketch below).

Of course, the wider the callipers is, the thicker the bracket (carrier) will have to be for the same disc offset. The pad thickness has its importance too.

If we talk about original one-block cast callipers from a donor car, they might accept different disc thickness, but on a very small range to my mind.
Can you give more informations about what kind of callipers you bought, disc thickness (vented and non-vented) and bracket thickness ?
