Nosecone mounting
Is it really necessary to have a nosecone to work out where the mounting brackets for it need to go?
I would rather buy bodywork in a bundle to save some cash - but don't want to have it sitting in a cold damp garage for over a year slowly deforming and/or potentially getting damaged!!

If you are using something like the Saturn nose then you don't need brackets as it sits on the chassis top and bottom

Yep, 3 or 4 rivnuts should do it.

So it's such a snug fit it's just a case of securing it directly onto the chassis rails with a bolt going through the GRP and straight into a rivnut on the rails?
I get the impression Saturn has folded? Best speak to Equinox as to whether theirs sits directly on the rails then!

It is a snug fit, but in my case it falls off the front if unsupported. Otherwise, yes, bolts through GRP with large washers. On the bottom mine is overlapping with the chassis tube by only some 7 or 10 mm, so I'll have to make some kind of fixing out of ally. Probably bonded and riveted to the GRP, and rivnut + bolt to the chassis.

Quote:
the theory of it losing shape in storage is partly incorrect. to set fibreglass so that it doesnt move again you need to expose it to extreems of temperature. if you get it really cold and really hot as long as you dont ever exceed those temperatures in the future it shouldnt lose its shape. so the trick is to stick it out in the garden in the hot sun prior to storing it.
