wiring loom head ache
I decided to pull the wiring loom from the mx5 yesterday afternoon after I've been telling myself all week that I was going to leave it alone, I've even written on the body work 'do not touch!'
I don't have more than half the things that plug in to any of the connectors which will make things interesting come refit time, my donor has no interior, doors or any of the dash. So today I'm stripping all the tape from the loom and separating the the engine and lighting from things that a Roadster does'nt need, such as the heavily butchered stereo wiring, aircon control (why would you want this in a rag top?) and any redundant connectors fitted as standard. I feel a head ache is coming my way later on..... |

The popup headlight motor control was the most annoying thing to remove for me.
The only thing I regret just stripping out it the dash dimmer. I know I'm going to have to track back and run a bypass to get my dash lights to come on which I'm sure would have been more obvious with the dimmer in place. Cheers Stot

Ah pop up head lights, you have just enlightened me as to what goes in to the mystery plugs at the front. I think it's the dash plugs that will be the most fun.

Stot, the dash lamination wires are red, and white. If you can't find them behind the dash, why not use the old wires that went to the ash tray light on the arm rest console ?

You'll probably get confused over the lack of relays as well and where they are supposed to be.. I know I did..
I found it somewhat confusing following wiring diagrams for cars destined for use across the pond and then modified for UK use... I ended up with only 3 individual relays which confused the hell out of me at times.
