stainless crush tubes, wear?
Can any body that has had their car on the road for over a year tell me what sort of state their polybushes and stainless crush tubes are in after this amount of use/time please?
On the Sierra based builds you can shim between the bearing carriers and the rear uprights get correct toe in/out as need be but on the MX5 it needs a different approach requiring an adjuster. What I've come up with is an adjustable crush tube that fits the standard suspension brackets and polybushes with 3/4-19mm crush tubes but I need to know how much or even if 303 or 304 stainless wears against the polybushes.

Think you will find poly bushes eat the tubes as they tend to be abrasive.

I've been doing a bit of digging on this and it seems that the poly bushes only polish the crush tubes and any wear on the stainless is hardly noticeable compared to that of the poly bushes. So now I know that I feel confident enough to put off set 12mm holes in to 19mm adjustable crush tubes.
What I've come up with allows 2mm of adjustment using the standard poly bushes and suspension brackets but requires 4mm removing from one end of the wishbone bush tube to make room for the hex section.

I've learnt now that if you try and drill to too much 303 stainless between drill sharpenings it wonders off on it's own, I tend to get 3-4 scrap every batch of 60.
