interesting enough the sites at the other end of the world are fanging along....but we still check in on the motherland. My build stalled at the chassis tacked up stage, when a road registered Chevron (an NZ brand) came up cheap.

Well my build is finished and has been on the road for a few years.
I still read the site most every day to see what people are doing.
I don't necessarily contribute as my build is not really related to what others are doing, but I am still interested in everyones build .
Myself I don't think anything remains as it is and as such I have several winter projects with the car such as replacing the clamshells with cycle fenders.
I have made a set of wind wings from scratch, removed my T5 and replaced the S10 tail stock with a Camaro tail stock, redone the shifter, am currently waiting for a Lotus shifter ball from the UK as I type this.
I am happy to see that the site has gotten back to it's earlier format.
I think all sites have dips and valleys, the original posters in the beginning post information that is interesting to all, but as their cars get completed or they move on other people replace them.
They may not have the same questions or needs for info based on the fact that the previous crowd has given such a solid foundation that many don't need to ask as many questions as the early builders did.
The info is all there to be freely used.
The fact that this forum is still here shows its value in the ground work laid down by the first posters.
Ultimately one day it will come to an end, everything does, but when that day comes is still controlled primarily by the existing members here and future members.

Could it be that more people have their own blogs / build diary / facebook pages these days? I update my build diary quite regularly but rarely contribute here any more, mainly because my car is too detatched from the roadster concept to have any meaning for the people visiting here. I still read other people's posts as some of the work people are doing is nothing short of inspirational. As far as my build goes the finances have been tight so work has been much slower than my previous build, I have also had to make the decision to strip the engine due to low compression on a couple of pots and high oil usage. The cost of rebuilding a 12 is horrendous - gaskets alone are nigh on £200!!! Will have to go to lots of auto jumbles and see what I can find. Anybody got a spare set of Jag 5.3 V12 rings they don't need?

My build is on go slow, shame becuase its not really far off.
I get a bit depressed readings others post and seeing finished cars and the quality of the builds, I'll get there, need funds for lights, gauges, harnesses a new set of rims that would see the back of it . Still about 1k there thought!

Getting more of my frame tacked together. Slightly cloudy day !! Temp of 25deg C. Beach just down the road It,s great to live in Godzone. Well on with the cutting of the angle bracing. I wish we could buy items for our Haynes roadsters for the prices paid in England. Delivery costs more than the parts Well you can,t have everything

Well I've been busy driving

Got my reg last week and plates made up. Was away at the weekend so didn't get them fitted until late Sunday night. Then followed the storms but Xmas eve the weather cleared and Mrs M suggested we take the car out for a first drive. Mrs M and I donned out helmets and braved the elements. Took it easy but got a good 50 mile shakedown under our belts. Car felt great, very planted despite the wet roads and a surprisingly smooth ride. Had the wideband lambda running and could see that she needed a bit more fuel in the mid-range.

On Christmas day Mrs M suggested we go out for a drive before Christmas dinner. Lovely empty roads up into the valleys. Got a little nervous when we started to see snow at the top of the bwlch but the roads were okay and I took it easy. Back in the lowlands and gave the the car a few beans on the straights, tweaked the carbs after the first run and mid-range was a lot better, think i need to go slightly larger on the mains but all in the tweaking.

In-laws wanted to see the car so took it out again today for a run.

So far that's 160miles in 3 days in the middle of winter in an opened top car.

For all of you still building, don't give up - you will soon forget all the troubles when you get out on the road. I can guarantee it is worth it, but watch out for the jaw ache from all the grinning like an idiot you will be doing.

Hi all.

I haven't been on here for a while as i have been driving and enjoying mine. Couldn't keep up with a friend in a Fisher Fury earlier in the year, so decided more power was required. Currently in the process of fitting the Cosworth BOB 24V in place of my Cologne V6. Have managed to Squeeze it in, just got to make manifolds and finish wiring it up, then onto the rolling road.

Should be fun.

I passed the IVA last July, and spent the next couple of months snagging & tweaking as below:

Check Nearside Front Wishbone Ball Joints

Additional cooling holes / vents in side panels

Renew oil pressure switch

Check & clean distributor cap / timing

Repair sticking throttle cable with additional return spring

Clean positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV )

Valve / tappet clearances set

Renew Steering Track Rods - Escort RS2000 from Rally Design where the wrong taper

Check Handbrake Adjustment

Top up differential oil with EP80/W90 (Wish I had done this before assembling)

Driving in the sun soaking up the pleasure from all the hard work

Generally trying not to spend to much on the roadster and concentrating on buying anything new born baby related (due on the 3rd January!)
