Steve, just a thought, you havent used a big fat rubber engine mount that has lifted up the engine have you??? it would not take much of a lift that far back to raise the shaft at the front.

TT I think making a new engine mount would be the cheapest solution.
No its all standard, as per the book. Did chris change things in it but forget to actually mention what was done? I can't seem to find a decent photo in the book how the steering column is made. Last edited by SeriesLandy : 5th August 2011 at 09:23 AM. |

Modding an engine mount to clear a steering shaft is preferable to modding a steering shaft to clear an engine mount. The less complicated the steering system the better.

would save having an extra load of uj's in the system. Would 40x40 or 30x30 be preferable for the pinto mount?

Having similar problems - using a Pinto with the Sierra rubber engine mounts - the steel mounts that go on the chassis rails are book spec, I trial fitted the engine for the first time last weekend - but the steering shaft wants to run through where the engine mount is now...
Don't want to drop the mounts - as I don't want to loose more ground clearance / create any problems with the prop alignment...
