Happy to be proved wrong but I am sure it wont. The bearing caps are 20mm deeper on the silvertop.

Indeed they are,
Silvertop sumps fit blacktop but not the other way round

The 1.8 CVH sump does not fit silvertops ideally, either. The rear crank seal arc has an about 4 mm gap, the front about 2 mm. The CVH gasket is thick in both arc sections. What I did cut down most of the gasket's width in the front crescent, so that the remaining strip compresses to the right thickness. Plus a liberal amount of silicone sealant.
