Smile Paint

Hi Rich

Orginally I had planned a different paint system but due to the lay up of over a year & a healty light coat of rust, I had to change tack a little

Firstly, I cleaned the chassis the best I could ( Read, renoved the rust )

None of the metal was badly pitted & cleaned up quite well.

I gave the chassis two heavy coats of Galvafroid ( Zinc primer ). This was applied with a roller & fine brush for the tight corners.

This was overcoated with three light coats of Hammererite (Smooth ), applied by spray.
I don't personally rate hammerite as a brushing paint but it will spray OK & at least I know that it is compatable with a Galvafriod basecoat.

When I am ready & all is fully cured, I'll give the visible surfaces a final coat of a darker Red just to tone it down a little

Cheers mate, I'm thinking that if mine is going to be stored for a while it would be a good idea to give what I have done a coat of Galvawotsit. One thing about your chassis colour, if you have Fabbies yellow body work and black wings it will be in the Haynes colour.

Looking good

I toyed with the idea of doing mine red or blue but i bottled out in the end and went for good old boring black!

Thats the great thing about these cars even if people say they have followed the book to the letter there will still never be two exactly the same.

Well done the red looks the dogs

Wink Paint colour

I had planned either Blue or Red
Everything I have done over the last few years has ended up Blue !! so the Red won the day.
I do have the correct colour Red, ready to finish off at a later date, that'll tone it down a bit

Ash

Blooming heck, 5 lorry loads !!??
I hope you manage to settle in quickly & be able to continue your build soon.

I dread to think what I would need for a move of house !! Definately involve quite a few skips.

Tilly819

No worries there

Not going to knock myself up again trying to chase an elite build number.
The satisfaction of achieving a built car will be enough for me

Question Garage

Have you the luxury of a garage for the rest of the build then Ash

Dare say, you have some tight deadlines to work to now

I was going to take a break for a few days but being as I am still feeling quite well, going to keep on plugging away & see what I can manage to get done before I run out of steam
