ERW is different in that it has a welded seam - the DOM or CDS is seamless.
Love your sketchup chassis - did you draw that? Last edited by Airhead : 9th June 2010 at 05:27 PM. |

Cds, Cds, Cds...
Looks like we've confused ourselves, or maybe just myself!
Of the 200+ things that CDS can stand for, two are: (1) Cold drawn steel - which I guess, as Wikipedia and other sites state, it could be ERW tube that is cold drawn to some other shape or may not even be tube that is cold drawn, but basically anything cold drawn and steel, solid or not, seamed or not, this is the definition I stated. (2) Cold drawn seamless - As you know: seamless tube cold drawn, probably the more correct definition of CDS in fabrication circles. Correct me if I'm wrong. Presumably CDS (2nd definition) is a sub-set of CDS (1st definition). Pheeew... I think that's that sorted out Yes, I did draw the Sketchup Roadster model in the link in my signature. I am trying to keep it ahead of my build, so far so good, since I'm only finishing off my build table so far, and havn't got the hang of curves in Sketchup yet! |
