Thanks Guys
Here's some pics of my exhaust set up. The tubing is just two 90 degree bends, with some strange angles cut into the ends to make it all line up (took a lot of trial and error!). As mentioned previously, the end can is by Simmi Performance, and I mounted it using the hanger strap it came with and two 'half moon' exhaust rubbers I found on ebay. |

Hey....
First turn of the tyre under its own steam? One serious goal achieved there John.... my hat off to you buddy. Exhaust looks good too, I see you put it plenty forward of the rear wheel arch compared to a lot of builds, is this to keep heat of it? Also I've been looking on here regarding exhaust clamps and IVA but not found a lot. Obviously not a good idea to put a plastic cap on one's nuts in this area.... Is part of this area exempt to a certain degree as per the front shock area? Whats your thoughts John? Johno |

Hey Johno,
I put it that far forward for several reasons. The official reason is to stop the kids stepping/burning themselves on it getting into the car, and to stop it melting the rear arch. The real reason is I was too lazy to make it any longer, and too tight to buy the extra pipe (the bits I did use were fished out of the bin at work ) Not sure what to do about the exhaust clamp. I might just cover it in exhaust heat wrap, which might then fall off on the way home from the IVA |

Hi John,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but has anybody pointed out that your green paint on your side panels is looking a bit eeerrrr.... frayed around the edges..... Do you plan to put a heat shield around your'e lovely bike can at some point? Is it true the carbon fibre cans don't heat up as much as stainless cans as black would look good against yellow. Not that I'm enquiring for my own build of course you know.... Johno |

Ha ha. I've been trying to keep that protective film on for as long as possible, as I'm bound to scratch my panels to buggery as soon as I do!
No idea if carbon is cooler or not Does look good though Simmi do a carbon version of my can for another 30 or 40 quid. I was quite tempted, but was struggling to justify spending a ton on the can, let alone any more Hadn't thought about a heatshield to be honest. |

Managed to get my brakes working last night, so I can now stop as well as go!
I really hadn't been looking forward to bleeding the system, and was having nightmares about spending days pumping the pedal, but it couldn't have been easier! I went for the squirting-fluid-into-the-callipers-with-a-syringe approach. A few squirts into each one in turn, tried the pedal and it was pressurised Usually takes me several hours to get any pedal pressure! |

Now I really have to go into the garage and do some building lol!!
You will have to pop a video on youtube of your first blast up the street! Have you had any thoughts about the front wing stays. I know Nathan produced some and had them available on the NTS site. Have you designed your own yet? David

I'm not sure I want to post incriminating evidence on youtube!
I have been thinking about how to do the wingstays recently, and have some ideas, but haven't started making them yet. |
