upper harness mount position
Does anyone know how to line up the upper harness mounts in relation to the seat position?
I've seen the part of iva that states the minimum hight of the mounts but I'm also trying to figure out the width of the mounts. I have the cross bar ready to drill and weld bushes in but just want to check on perfect position. That's assuming my roll bar and seats are ok. |

Not sure about positioning the mounts, but you might want to rethink the seats...
Harnesses don't really work when they go around the seats, ideally they need to go through them. I found that when I had mine going around the outside of my seats the upper parts of the harness were constantly trying to slip off over my shoulders. If I leant forward I'd slip through them and headbutt the steering wheel - not much use in a crash |

I have the same seats in my locost and no problems, as long as mountings are above your shoulder height, centres are 140mm from center line of seat. No idea for IVA as different seats used for SVA.

Sorry
They do look nice... I seem to recall there is/was a kit available for lotus elise seats to add harness holes into them. Might be worth looking into? EDIT: Just seen TSM's reply so I could be talking bollox! Last edited by skov : 5th January 2014 at 05:07 PM. |

Dont fit the cross bar untill you sort seats and bear in mind height requirement for IVA/seat belt.

There is an answer to this that might not be too popular but I'm going to say it any way, forget 4 point harnesses and fit inertia reel seat belts.
Reason 1: keep the same seats for IVA and post IVA Reason 2: you sit at the end of a long bonnet in these cars and in 4 point harnesses you can't lean forward to look left past your passenger at junctions Reason 3: have you ever taken a 7 into a pay at entry car park or at the toll booth and had to undo your 4 point belts? Reason 4: one size fits all no need to adjust them for every body that gets in the passenger seat I leave you to mull that little lot over before every body shoots me down in flames...

Reason 6: ...or 10 minutes if you left your helmet/gloves in the passenger footwell and didn't realise until it was too late. Reason 7: Adjusting your passenger wing mirror with your left foot whilst driving might be amusing but is probably neither safe nor legal! |

Actually I like the sound of that.
I didn't realise that was possible as harnesses just seem to be the norm. Do you have any info if I were to go that route?Parts needed and where would they be mounted |

Isn't there a bit in 'the book' about it?
