XR4i...... very carefully thrashed at every given opportunity especially in the rain, taxed mot'd and was even serviced about a 1000 miles ago.

Get an old Volvo, one of the rear wheel drive ones. 240, 740, 760, 940, 960. The bigger the engine the cheaper they are, I bought my 3ltr 960 for £575. It's towed plenty of cars for many miles, I use it every day, I've had it 18 months now, only thing I've had to do is change the radiator.

interesting thoughts guys
99% of the time i dont need a car our family car is a honda , replaced every third year and work are muting thoughts of 60 miles in the van at weekends which covers most things except for outings etc i,m just sick that i,ll have a car rotting in the street all week goin nowhere i would mind puttin fuel in the van actually if we can strike a compromise.... as for an XR4I thats a thought i,d love to drive around and smell of resin lol i,ll take it mister.... oil burner van sounds good as i work on plant if know what i mean wink wink and the volvo sounds like thats worth a looking into could take the dogs as well in either the van or volvo cheers off to get a yellow paper in the morning then cheers les g ps .. oil burner in a roadster is soooo wrong .......i,ve got a nasty zetec with trick cams ,megajolt and zx12 carbs on a bogg bros manifold ......isn,t that nasty enough???????????? mind you if you speak to missus she just says you know you,re gonna fit a cossie in it in the end ......you just as well own up to it and do it huffs and walks away and i,ve never ever mentioned it ............women bah !!!! they think they can read you like a book .. I needed a 2nd car about 3 years ago. It was to be used for the odd day when my wife needed 'our' car. I bought a cinquecento sporting for about £100, spent about £50 getting it MOT'ed. Its been my daily driver every day since, only once did it refuse to start. Great little car, as economical as an old oil burner if driven carefully, and will see off Zee German Uber Wagon that insist he must get infront of you as your car is smaller than his. Very nippy due to the lightness. And (IMHO) they look good with it too. I have joined the owners club, improved my car to make it go and stop even better and as its Italian I often go along to AutoItalia club events. Oh how the Ferrari owners look down at the Fiat drivers
So, yes I am biased, but you can't go far wrong with a little chinky sporting. |
