thanks for that Wynand!!
Both have their good and bad points; so as I couldnt decide (and still cant) I got them both - they were too good a deal to pass up.
Evan (7ish) and Aaron (nz_climber) both run a J160 in their roadster's behind 3S's
Here are a couple pics with dimensions of a J160/AZ6 I pinched from Aaron's McGregor build diary (http://aarons7.wordpress.com/), so I must give credit to him.. a bloody good write up! thanks mate

As they are both gearbox options for a 7 I think it is a good idea to have pics/dimension of both in the same thread, as it was pretty hard work trying to source measurements off the net for both. In the future, someone may just be in the same boat as I was/is

Now, for the next decision!....
