Is this just at consultation stage or is it likely to be enforced.. Anyone with any ideas ? I have only just got my steel and due to illness I am not able to start building until spring this year so will be way behind practically everyone on the forum. It will take me until early next year to finish probably. Is it likely that the car I build, if identical to the one in Chris's book, will not be road legal. I know that the IVA has not been released yet so noone will know the ions and outs of what is in it but can anyone suggest what likely modifications would need to be made this year if I build to Chris's spec so that if I over run my build (quite likley !) I will only have to make some minor alterations rather than refitting major components and starting again... ?
Any advice would be grand - just don't want to lose the excitement of building.... Lost and confused.......................................:co nfused: |

Spoke with a representative at VOSA today to seek clarification, he said that although the SVA test would end in March 2009 the requirments for passing my 'Roadster' would remain the same under the new scheme. Having said that, this information contradicts related material on the web so I would urge you to make your own enquiries going forward.

SVA migration to IVA
My Personal views as i see things.
______________________________________ Whilst it is certainly true. SVA test is due to be replaced by the IVA Early next year. I dont think we need to worry just yet. Having read a few of the related articles, it would seem that a lot of work has still to be done with reguard to the introduction of the IVA test. VOSA & the department of Transport are working to finalise the exact details for the format of the new test. The Kit car industry in the UK is quite large. There is no way we are likely to see its demise in the near future. From what i have read. The medium to large producers of kit cars have more to fear than us individuals. I for one, will not abandon my build just yet. Yes, there may be a few minor changes to the standards required but i am sure we will be able to adopt them. Ronnie |

I'm sure we will all adapt, after all we did it when the sva test came in. As a matter of interest I wonder which EU country has the hardest test, the most expensive and the hardest to register
I say EU because we are supposed to be harmonised :-) Last edited by jabs : 28th February 2008 at 10:12 AM. |

Iva
Found this thread which may be of interest and should ease a few concerns over the SVA loss.

Err I have the file how do I attach it to the post
Found it in advanced but will not let me attach a zip file and the doc is too big to attach I have changed the extension from .zip to .pdf just so I can attach. THIS IS NOT A PDF file, rename it to .zip once you have downloaded it. So when you click on it save rather than open Last edited by jabs : 4th March 2008 at 03:35 PM. |

Hmm there's a problem there, the forum doesn't take zip files.
Could you make it into a pdf or word document? if so click reply and scroll down to "manage attachments" and choose the file type and the file from your computer. cheers Chris |

Say 'Hello' to the most recent member of the Cobra forum.
Unfortunately I can't paste the file in because the character limit is 10 000 and the doc is 64 000. Can't attach it either because the attachment limit is 19.5 Kb and the file is 212Kb. If there is a way to do it, let me know and I'll put it on. Joining the Cobra forum takes seconds, as an alternative. Neil |
