Roll Center and Instantanous Center + other suspension info
Hello All,
Due to me living in Australia, Sierra / escort parts are hard to come by. So I am having to use other donor parts. These parts do not have the same dimensions as the book. So I will have to modify the location of the internal pick up to get the same suspension basic geomentry So my question is. Does anyone know Front Roll Center height Front Instantanous center width KPI Caster Front Track Camber (base settings) Front Scrub Rear Roll Center height Rear Instantanous center width Rear Track Rear Scrub Rear Track Rear Camber Thank you for your time Tim |

Hi. I'm in the same situation. I had some E30 BMW parts lying around so I'm fabricating my own front and rear uprights from all of that.
There is a guy on here GraemeWebb who mentioned looking into all of this. If you can get hold of him then he might be able to help. Most of those parameters you're interested in are easily got from the design. The front and rear tracks are on here somewhere. But I can't find them right now. Cambers are said to be best started off at negative 1. KPI is 11 degrees Caster is 6.7 degrees Front scrub radius is 31mm I don't know anything else right now. Hope this gets you started though and please keep me up to date. I've been meaning to get around to doing those Roll centres. Good luck. James. |

Wiil be looking into it soon. I keep on promising myself, but business trips to Germany and then helping my daugher and her family move just gets in my way.
Plan to build bottom wishbones this weekend. These will differ from the book to suit the e36 uprights. Will keep the track the same as the book and will change top pivot point on the upright/top wishbone to keep a resonable roll centre. Cant easily change the lower chassis pick up points so decided to carry on with the bottoms. Castor etc should remain the same. will post sketch/pictures when it is done. |

Have you got mazda mx5's over there it's alot easier to modifiy the chassis and wishbones to suit than it is to use bmw running gear. It only took us 3 hours to work it out and remake the wishbones to suit.
