Dilemma!
Hi all,
I have a bit of a quandary with my donor. As you know I have the Sierra 2lt twinky, but I also have the option of an MX5 with a recon engine having done 40k & a gearbox that’s done 20 mile. My question is what would you do, what would be the better build? Thanx all |

MX5, just make sure if it's an early engione that the front crank pully has been sorted as early ones worked loose and destroyed the crank nose.

Good call TT,
on cold start the bottom pully wobbles slightly I think i'll stick with the good old pinto without the ECU Cheers |

Go with your Pinto for now Twin, it will make building / costs a lot easier and you will get a much easier IVA / emissions test. You can always upgrade afterwards, makes for a nice winter project to keep you out of trouble.

The lighter front uprights on the Mazda would tempt me away from the Sierra.
Doesn't matter which engine as long as its a zetec really.... |

Go with the MX-5, it was designed as sports car so you're on a winner to start with.
MX-5 engine either the 1.6 or 1.8 is bulletproof and the gearbox has better ratios than any of the stock ford boxes. If it's a jap import then could well have LSD! Plenty of parts available. BV |
