exhaust emishions prof of engine age
hi has any one had problems when sending car for an iva test and not being able to produce log book ect from a donor vehicle that the engine came from as im using various donor vehicles to build mine i was wondering how do i get around the emishions test with my engine as there is no prof on its age it is a c20xe vauhall engine that was from a pre cat test calibra but i have no prof of that any ideas

Normally you write a letter, including your engine number to Vauxhall and they can send you a letter confirming its age. Some manufacturers charge for this service.

Hi.
A friend of mine had a vauxhall engine and Vauxhall would not supply him a letter (unlike Ford who will). This meant he failed his IVA on emissions, because he could not prove the year of manufacture of the engine they tested it on current (strict) emission levels. He had bike carbs and no cat, therefore no chance! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but be very careful! Leigh

Yes as long as you can achieve current emissions standards you will be fine.
