Kickdown relay
I've been reading through the wiring diagram and came across the kickdown relay and was wondering what it does and whether I need it?

Not unless you are using an automatic gearbox!

So would it still be present and just not used on a manual?

I would have thought it unlikely.

I doubt it's present.

Ok thanks guys, I'm guessing any of these kickdown type things are all for the automatic gearbox and won't be there either then.

"Kickdown" is a feature of auto boxes which allows for a downshift for better acceleration. Basically when you floor the loud pedal the 'box will drop a gear. Later slush boxes have some electronic control hence the kickdown relay.
