Default Headlight location.

Sorry if this has been done before but I am at the planning stage and I am unsure where I want to locate the headlight arms.
I have looked at quite a few builds and it seems most have mounted them in line with the shock mounts.
Question, is there anything in the iva stating a minimum distance back from the front of the car as there is with a max distance in from the widest point of the car, and is there anything wrong with mounting them nearer the front frame.
I am working on a design to mount the headlights and indicators together and if I can move them forward it will help with the 45 degree of vision for the indicators.

The only problem with moving them forwards is that they're more likely to hit the front wheels/wings on full lock.

Any IVA reason that they can't be on the cycle wings?

Auto-cornering headlights?


Or do they need to be on a sprung part of the car?

You can put the indicators on the cycle wings as long as they meet the radius tool requirements for forward projections and you can't see them flashing from the drivers seat. The indicators not only need to be visable from 45' from the front but also from low down as if you where sat on the floor, this is an easy one to fail on. If you mount your headlights down low with the indicators under them you may fail as the wheels may cover them from the 45' low angle test. As for the headlights mounted on the arches I am assuming that you are joking, right? Every time the wheels move up and down the headlights will move with them blinding on coming traffic and generally causing motion sickness for the driver and passenger.

That's why everything is getting tacked up first and not fully welded it's trial and error stages right now.
I have seen that you are allowed the small button repeaters do they have to be at the front or can they be mounted in the rear arch.

Yes, you can mount them on the rear arch (I have, and so have many others).
They have to be within 2600mm of the front of the vehicle though, which means they end up being towards the front of the arch.

Will see what happens to my development, I will take some photos when I am further along and see what people think.
I may look at it and not like it and scrap it straight off
