what parts that can be made on lathe?
I haven't actually checked the book but just wondering how many components there are that can be cut on a lathe. We have a lathe at work that never gets used so would make a good little project during quiet times.

Mushroom inserts, threaded tubes for all four upper wishbones, track rod extensions, upper seatbelt bosses. Suspension bush crush tubes.
Also, you could true up suspension bush tubes.

I bought this old clunker years ago and have never stop using it. Aside of the stuff already mentioned this is used for making props cleaning off or facing discs ,making/facing off flywheels ,drums and just about anything that will fit in the chuck. I have even put an alloy wheel in it with the gap bed out and polished up the rim by holding varoius grades of paper and polish against it while spinning Believe me you will find a shed load of use for it while building the roadster.

Haha it looks exactly the same as ours, is it colchester student?
oh well good to know, I will have to have a look and see what I can come up with. Had a quick look at the drawings on here for the mushrooms but would have no idea how to do the off centre part. Is that done some other way? |

Offset mushrooms would be done in a 4 jaw chuck.

Oh yeah, on a 4 jaw chuck, each clamp is adjusted individually so I just centre the part part needed.
I don't think I ever used the 4 jaw so its all new to me. |
