Default Windscreens... again...

So now we're seeing more suppliers taking up the Haynes Roadster mantle, are any of them going to add a windscreen to their product list? I keep trying to convince myself that an aeroscreen will be fine (maybe it will for IVA and save me the hassle of wipers etc) but longer term, I know I need a screen...

I'm fitting a full screen during my winter rebuild.
I've got a half screen at the moment, Certainly helps to keep the wind and bugs of you.

I'm currently working on two locost/roadster wind screen kits the first comprises of two bits of dented chassis tubing and the cling film from yesterdays lunch. The second is two bits of carbon effect fibre glass and a bag of smashed glass. I'm planning on selling both through fleebay for about £130+delivery. lol

Jeff,

If you can wait a short while SSC are working with Alphax Kitcars over in Holland to produce a frame and windscreen for the Haynes, we will be sending over a scuttle to them soon for them to fabricate a windscreen and frame. Not sure how long it will take but probably not too long. Alphax are distributing chassis, bodies and components for the Haynes to the european market which SSC are to be supplying.

The aeroscreens do have quite a benefit above 40mph, pushing most of the wind up and over your head. But obviously not the wet stuff.... you're right about timing though, best after iva mainly for the demisters you would have to fit.

Regards....AndyH

The good thing about a "Half screen" is you can hunker down When it rains

Or in titch's case, sorry HandyAndy.
You can hunker up to see over the top

Very helpfull post

Best make sure I steer well away from those when I see them on ebay

On a more serious note & not to put a downer on the whole idea.

Any pre-produced windscreen is going to have to rely on a constant scuttle shape. For example, a scuttle you personally produce.

Even if they are made as a matched pair, problems may still arise !!??

Being as the Roadster chassis will most likely be home built. When it comes to fitting the scuttle you may find that the chassis is a few mm wider or narrower than the book spec.
You may get the scuttle fitted with a bit of tweaking but where will that leave the fitment of the windscreen ?

I think that this is probably the reason as to why no one has jumped in to fill the gap for this particular item.

Andy - good to hear on the screens. I think we do need one for the Roadster and I'm sure people will buy them once they know they're available.

Can I make one request? You make them available in black - similar to the Robin Hood Zero on the front of this month's CKC magazine?

Finallly, timing won't be an issue for me... my chasss is still sat complete on the building board with little more progress from when I posted it as complete

if it rains i,d just remove the booster seat

having been out in Spud,s car quite alot, his car has an aeroscreen fitted & it really does direct the airflow over the top of your head, to be honest you don,t notice the airflow with a full face helmet on , which i plan on wearing when i drive my own car,

maybe this isn,t to everyone,s agreement but i think a helmet is a must if a full windscreen is not fitted, plus it hides my ugly mug
