looking at that in its literal sense, how the hell do you go about buying a vehicle privately if the tax ends as soon as you sell your vehicle it means you cannot say taxed & tested anymore and there will probably a boatload of peeps will be set to loose out with tax left on vehicles if they need to sell quickly... I dont usually delve into politics but this government are being right TW*TS (thats an I by the way)(not)

Hmm dont like the tax not being transferable so is the tax now on the car owner rather than the car and if so dont we pay enough tax and how much are they taking off the price of road tax since they will be saving a fortune on printing and posting of discs (dont answer we all know the benefits dont benefit the drivers)

Didn't register the bit about it not being transferable, I was thinking more the direct debit bit being handy

Just another way of hitting the motorist again as we are easy targets,a bit of civil unrest here would show the government we are not happy but that is not the British way,Que and get screwed as usual.

buy online? seems a strange move to do away with tax disc on windscreen, surely police make quite a bit from "failure to display" etc. might not be too bad

With the exception of needing tax imediately the vehicle is bought it seems pretty well thought out.
As regards taxing on a weekend: go online (they don't really want you using the post office anyway) And considering how quick the DVLA usually are about updating records you could probably drive it home on the last persons tax if you don't have internet at point of sale. And I like the montly direct debit too. Going to make the £485 a year evil poluting monsters much more affordable. |

Nothing changes, read through the DVLA blurb until you come to the refund bit.
They will refund automatically if you scrap the vehicle "at an automated treatment facility" . Authorised possibly.
