Default IVA Fees released, Kit Cars £450 retest £90

A post on locost builders prompted me to ring VOSA who confirmed that Kit Cars are Class C and the fee is £450 retest £90. Extortion in my opinion.

totally agree, rip off.
i had a thought( doesn,t happen often)..... with the way the economy is in this country it wouldn,t surprise me if the number of kit cars being built matches the number of production cars being built by nissan/toyota/honda etc in this country, as they seem to be shutting down production for a while, now thats a thought innit???
andy

maby we should all rally up in arms and stop booking cars in for test until they lower the cost.

Sadly thats just what the buroprats would love us to do, the best way to stop folks doing something is to put the price up.

Brings back memories of a game of Monopoly with the opponent just put a hotel on all the buildings. Isn't Regent St £450 with a Hotel on.

On the other hand £190 was i thought very reasonable to have a thorough safety inspection of the car carried out before taking out family and friends for a blast. But to go upto £450 for virtually the same test shouldn't be allowed to happen, dvla should have a governing body like other monopolised industries, utility companies mainly, where price increases have to be justified and agreed in advance.
When my car was down at Beverley the center was full of HGV's, surely this is the main source of their income and doesn't need to be subsidised by the kit car market.

I'd agree that the differences in the test don't justify the price increase, but there's nothing we can do about it, being British

Cheers

Just bend over again and let someone else shaft us.......

Spud,Took car for VIC check to sandy lane and it was empty of HGV's ! Not Good. Miserable buggers were outside stopping innocent motorists and checking their cars.

Dog probably got the Donna....

As per usual. Just being British !
