Go-pro
SWMBO bought me a go pro for christmas, and very greatful i am too.
now I need to be able to mount it to the car. I have been looking on the bay of thieves and there are quite a few kits available, what I need to ask is has anyone used the suction cups to fix their camera to the car. I have this vision of going off down the road and the swing the camera flying off in the rearview mirror. My roll bar has been made out of 42mm o.d. tubing and finding the clamp type moutings is proving difficult so I was just wondering if anyone had used the suction cups and how successful they are. no experience of them... yet, but could you not make something like a large P clip, lined so that it doesn't mark your roll bar ?

i've been thinking of something like that, but when you look at the accessory kits on ebay they are relatively cheap, so don't know what to do, any other thoughts

When I borrowed a friends gopro in the summer I used a tripod mount that looked a lot like a g clamp to attatch it to the roll bar.
Something like a manfrotto super clamp would be nice and heavy duty and I wouldn't worry about it coming off. Expensive but a very good make in the photography world. Superclamps on a ferrari View from the top of the rollbar gopro by Series1Landy, on Flickr |

buy the gopro mount kit direct from go pro, you get various mounts in the kit plus five stick on mounts for safety lanyard, the kit is about £35 mine has survived a long time on the landrover off road etc. lots of racing cars i deal with also use these kits, suction mount with the stick on safety line.

Go pro
I bought a roll bar mount for mine off eBay. I also have some of the go pro mounts stuck on the wings etc. Once they are on they don't come off. Try and use official go pro stuff as the quality is really good.

Thanks for that guys I will get onto their website this evening and see what I can find.
you guys that have been using the go pro already, do you have any footage on you tube or anything else, would love to have a look at your cars on the road and the quality of the product Arfon |

There is a kit of goodies on Amazon that contains all the bits and pieces for go pro etc and its about £13,excellent value and quality,roll bar mount and others included.

Cost : Little as possible. Thanks : To those who by their generosity my build has progressed. Its a handmade sports car not a flaming kit car !!! If at first you dont succeed,avoid skydiving... No parachute require to freefall,only if you want to do it twice. |
