Cutting the tubing
Good evening all......I have just finished my "build table", and I was wondering what everyone is using to cut the Chassis tubing? I am trying to sell my wood planer/jointer, so I can purchase a horizontal band saw. I don't have my "mig gas" yet, maybe next week. As soon as I can figure out how to shrink my pictures, I will post some. Thank you.....Don

I used a metal cutoff saw with a 14 inch blade for most of the lighter 1x1 tube, occasionally used the band saw for heavier metal, and to be honest did an lot of 1x1 tube cutting by hand which was just as fast.
It doesn't take long to pick up doing accurate cuts by hand, just be sure to use a 'bimetal' hack saw blade, not carbon. Al

Store them on something like photobucket then post them using the image code. Regards Adrian BTW cut all my tube with an angrygrinder

Try and get a band saw locally off evil bay, they're great for cutting all but the most extreme angles, then sell it again when you are done.

Decent hacksaw frame on thin wall tube is very under rated, I prefer it over the cold saw we have which snags up on thin stuff.

I used an Evolution Rage mitre saw
http://www.evolutiononlineshop.co.uk/fury3b210.html I was very happy with it, as you can combine vertical and horizontal angles, which you often have to do for the chassis tubes. They also have sliding versions of this saw. Only downside : price of the replacement blades is quite high. Good luck for the build btw

Al, Andrew, DaveyB, and Bob.....Thank you, I did buy a metal cutting(composite) blade for my compound miter saw, but I didn't like the cut, or the mess. Thanks, Voucht, but for a little more $, I can get that horizontal band saw, that also goes vertical. Thanks, Adarian. forgot all about Photo Bucket! Yes Bob....It's the "Chris Gibbs" Haynes version Super 7. For now....steady hand and a good blade on the "saws all" Cheers....Don
