Build has now started
Hi guys
I have finally started my build so here goes the next 3 ish years!!!! I think I have done the photo bucket correctly aswell. So first question with the welds on the Sva how do they like to see them ground down or left?????? http://s830.photobucket.com/user/bro...brary/Roadster

I've never heard about IVA examiners paying any attention to the welds, except the ones for the seat belt anchor points. The accepted wisdom on here is to flatten the welds where ali or GRP panels will sit and leave the rest as they are.

As I general rule I only 'reduce' the welds where the panels will touch them. Do not grind the weld completely flush with the surface of the tube leave it about 0.5mm proud otherwise you might just have not bothered to weld it. If your going to be using stickaflex to bond your body panels on you should end up with a layer 0.5-1mm thick any way so the reduced welds should not cause a problem.

Not done an update for a while but I'm still building and will update the photos very soon once I'm out of the garage!! So the chassis is complete now making the wishbones, so far I have not brought anything other then the metal to make the parts. Progress has been a little slow but I have rebuilt my mates vxr after he blew it up and the gearbox plus moving soon so packing boxes! Good to see all the progress on your cars and I must say I do keep looking at the forum for advice with certain bits!! Must go parts to source and buy flebay is my next best friend for cutting discs.
